#GivingTuesday (1st December) is a global day of giving. After the sales of Black Friday and the online shopping boom on Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is an opportunity to come together to show the world why it’s good to give. Whether it’s making a donation, volunteering your time or just spreading the word at the start of the Christmas shopping season, #GivingTuesday is a call to action for everyone who wants to give something back.
#GivingTuesday has grown into a global movement, covering countries like The United States, Australia, Singapore, Canada, much of Latin America and Israel. The simple idea behind #GivingTuesday is to encourage people, charities and businesses to donate time, money or their voice to help a good cause.
In 2014, The Hibbs Lupus Trust was confirmed as a Founding Partner for the Giving Tuesday campaign in the UK. The Hibbs Lupus Trust has taken this opportunity to raise greater awareness of lupus by encouraging people to post their #LHandSign picture across social media. The #LHandSign Campaign gives everyone the chance to easily get involved in raising awareness of lupus by raising their right hand in the shape on an L. The #LHandSign was created by a friend of mine, Mat Simpkins, aka Running For Lupus!
For a charity the size of The Hibbs Lupus Trust, this is a wonderful opportunity to take the #LHandSign campaign to a wider audience. The result of which will see more people aware of and having a greater understanding of lupus. Greater awareness will ultimately increase the chances of early diagnosis amongst new patients and reduce the chances of life threatening complications thereafter.
I’d love your support and can’t wait to see your #LHandSign photos! Thank you!
